Varicose and Spider Veins

Varicose veins are permanently enlarged veins in the legs. These veins are superficial, located directly beneath the skin. They are usually large in size, prominent and easy to see and feel. Spider veins are very tiny dilated capillaries. These appear as tiny red, blue or purple veins. They are close to the surface and easy to treat.

Varicose veins are unhealthy veins. The blood flow in varicose veins is slow and inefficient. With time, the body channels the blood from varicose veins to surrounding healthy veins. For this reason varicose veins and spider veins can be safely removed or closed down with sclerotherapy.
